Inspired by the death of a young Korean ‘Idol’, I wanted to create a piece to honour him, and show support for all who suffer with mental health conditions that make life difficult.
New Zealand Māori and Pasifika make up a disproportionate amount of institutionalizations and deaths here, which is why I wanted to bring my cultural roots into this piece.
